I like the 'Quick-Lok' mechanism as I can quickly swap out the Phillips and standard bits without messing with the drill's ratcheting chuck at all. This leaves little to the imagination at to how they would have handled catching while drilling though metal with a drill of nearly 55 lb-ft.As the bit shafts are supposedly titanium and the chuck is S2 steel, there must be a problem in the marrying process of the two because every one of the bits has sheared right where the titanium bit meets the chuck.not the typical separation where the bit starts spinning inside the chuck. As of two weeks after receiving the kit, I removed all the broken bits and placed 7 equivalently sized bits from a different kit in their place. Not the best way, but at least I have some usable bits in this case.Everything else about this kit is decent. I purchased this set when I purchased my Milwaukee 2610-24 18-Volt Drill/Driver Kit.The short story:I _LOVE_ my drill and 3/4 of this bit set. The magnetic screw guide and insert bits are quite useful as well. I sheared 2 of them on my first project that consisted of drilling a hole through drywall to sink a molly bolt. However, I think I would have been better suited with a case that either was smaller due to the removal of the drill bits or included a message that said, "This space intentionally left empty as you are better off than with the drill bits that COULD have gone here."The longer:Simply put, the drill bits are worthless. (No, I am not exaggerating).
Also, there is a part number for the bit, but its not sale-able. This would be handy for quick around the house projects. Milwaukee did not handle this at all. I've never broken a bit before, and this one snapped with hardly any pressure being applied.
I was very excited by this set. So, they can't replace my bit because its not under any sort of warranty, and they can't sell it to me either. I called customer service and was told the bits are not warrantied. I bought the Milwaukee 2401-22 12V 12-Volt Li-ion Sub-Compact Driver and really liked it.
To me, the real quality of a business is not that they never make a mistake or defect but how they handle resolving it when they do. I guess I'll just keep using this kit until all the bits are broken, and I'll throw it away and buy a different brand. I thought this would be a great combo so I could leave it in the house while having my larger bit sets and bigger drill in the garage. Well, I still like the drill and the quick-lok concept for smaller jobs, but the drill bits in this kit break extremely easily.
have been looking for this for a long time it has the right price and will be used alot, only bad part is amazon shipping policy
Included smooth shank chuck is (I assume) for use in a regular drill chuck, and holds double end bits. The case is easy to use, putting bits back into the storage compartment is a snap. Unlike a DeWalt bit kit I have, a real struggle to put bits back into the case. I bought this set for the QUIK-LOK extension chuck, great double end bit holder. Would buy this set again. They are not DRILL DOC compatible. All the included bits are useful, the drill bits may be junk, will see. For drilling with a hex drive tool, I have found the Milwaukee hex drive chuck 1/4 inch, # 49-22-1560 @ $22.xx useful for common shank drill bits.
I use this with my Bosch driver that only takes hex bits. The case is quite a bit larger than I expected, but it's a great value. Solid components, great case. Love the kit.
